ABOUT THE HALL
A lovely rustic, traditional village hall...
Our village hall, Cransley Village Memorial Hall to give it its official title, was built as a memorial for those who gave their lives in service to the country; to provide a meeting place in Great Cransley for the local community. A place to hold fundraising events, educational classes and other community-based activities.
The hall is owned by the Parish Council and run by the Village Hall Committee, a separate body that manages the hall and grounds. Recent years have seen many improvements to facilities, the installation of double glazing, a new heating system and access ramp suitable for disabled visitors.
To commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, an oak sapling was planted to the right of the hall as you face it. For the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022, the Parish Council will plant another tree in the grounds of the village hall.
The Village Play Area, which is next to the hall at the front as you come in, was completely refurbished in 2014. Made possible with a grant from Mick George, together with other smaller grants totalling over £50,000. The area is maintained by the Borough Council on the Parish Council's behalf.
The hall is a registered charity, you can find out more here, if you'd like to make a donation.
OUR
FACILITIES
Our village hall may not be very big but it certainly has lots of flexibility. With one very large room, leading to three outside spaces. a small kitchen, male and female toilets and a separate disabled toilet with baby changing facility.
The ceiling is painted white with beams, perfect for hanging bunting etc (we've already got hooks in place), the walls are painted cream, so no matter what type of event you're holding everything will look great. We also have a beautiful pale real wood floor, a typical vintage look you expect from a rural village hall.
The kitchen comprises a sink with hot and cold water, an electric heater provides the hot water. A hot water urn for a continuous supply of hot drinks. We have a counter top with a serving hatch, and a fridge for storing chilled products. (rentable only). There's a plenty supply of cups, plates and cutlery; you are of course welcome to bring your own or use your caterer's tableware.
There are no cooking facilities, if you are intending on keeping food hot or wish to serve freshly made hot food please speak to the Booking Clerk before you confirm your date.
Our outside spaces are all lawn, two of them have fences and gates, one is open without fences or gates and located directly off the carpark and all of them are suitable for marquees or gazebos. Please mention to the Booking Clerk if you intend to put up a marquee or gazebo before you confirm your date.
At the front of the hall is a small children's play area with swings, climbing frames etc Children must be supervised at all times when using the play area.
There's a small onsite car park and we ask that visitors and users of the hall be respectful to residents when parking elsewhere.
